The Importance of Mat Maintenance

Juno’s Car Washing; 06/04/25

Despite the generally aesthetically pleasing look of a pristine car floor mat, keeping your mats clean through regular maintenance is an excellent way to maintain the value of your car and prevent any damage and wear further down the road.

Prevent Ageing

Ensuring you see a regular brush and vacuum to your car mats will give you peace of mind in knowing the fibres, outer material and rubber backing will age slower. By ageing, we mean the mundane grey appearance which you may be familiar with; even after a thorough vacuum and spot vac, you could still be met with this discolouration despite a thorough clean. Maintain the value of your vehicle

When you set out to buy a used car, your goal is to find a well-kept car which is not only mechanically in great condition, but also aesthetically pleasing. You can use this fact to your advantage when you eventually come to the event of selling or part exchanging your vehicle.

Keeping your vehicle floor mats looking fresh and new will strike a positive chord with potential buyers, and will leave a great impression on you as a seller, and will aid your vehicle in standing out against the competition.

Preventing bacteria

It goes without saying that fabric floor mats such as the one displayed in Photo. A easily entrap dirt and dust from the moment a vehicle begins its journey of use. Without regular maintenance, orange juice spills, mud from boots after a nature reserve hike, and general domestic dust and all sorts of other day-to-day factors can become part of a floor mat and may become a difficult problem to fix further down the line.

A build-up of these dirty factors can lead to a growth of bacteria on the surface of a floor mat and deeper in its layers, ensuring regular maintenance will help you in preventing this.
